What is a Twin-shaft Concrete Mixer?

Twin-shaft concrete mixer (mainstream model: JS series) is a forced intermittent mixing equipment. Its core structure consists of two parallel horizontal mixing shafts rotating in opposite directions, with mixing arms and blades installed alternately on the shafts. Driven by shaft rotation, the blades form a 3D composite movement of convection + shear + circulation, forcibly mixing aggregates, cement, water, additives and other materials in the mixing drum to achieve uniform mixing in a short time.

Working Process

  1. Preparation Stage: Start the equipment, check lubrication, sealing, discharge door and other key parts to confirm no abnormalities;
  2. Feeding Stage: Feed aggregates, cement, fly ash and other dry materials into the mixing drum through the batching machine according to the preset ratio, then add water and additives;
  3. Mixing Stage: Start twin mixing shafts, blades drive materials to perform 3D movement and forcibly mix evenly;
  4. Discharge Stage: Hydraulic system opens the discharge door to unload the mixed concrete, and close the door after discharging;
  5. Cycle / Cleaning: Enter the next mixing cycle, or clean residual materials on the inner wall of the mixing drum and blades after shutdown.

Operation Notes

Before Startup

  • Check for residual materials and debris in the mixing drum to ensure no jamming;
  • Check lubricating oil level, hydraulic oil level, integrity of shaft end seals, and proper closing of discharge door;
  • Confirm normal function of control system and emergency stop button, and reliable grounding protection.

During Operation

  • Strictly prohibit over-ratio and over-size feeding to avoid motor overload or blade damage;
  • Observe equipment operation sound; stop immediately for inspection if abnormal noise or severe vibration occurs;
  • Prohibit personnel from approaching the mixing drum and discharge port, and never put hands/tools into the rotating mixing drum;
  • If power off during mixing, manually clean materials in the drum before restarting; no-load startup is mandatory.

After Shutdown

  • Clean the mixing drum, blades and discharge door in time to avoid concrete solidification and adhesion;
  • Turn off power, air supply / hydraulic power, and complete equipment cleaning and maintenance records;
  • For long-term shutdown, drain lubricating oil / hydraulic oil, conduct anti-rust treatment and cover the equipment.

Maintenance Taboos

  • Cut off power and hang a “No Closing” warning sign during maintenance and parts replacement;
  • Do not adjust mixing shaft speed or hydraulic system pressure at will; only professional personnel are allowed to operate;
  • Replace wearing parts (blades, lining plates) in time when wear exceeds 1/3 to avoid main shaft damage.
